Nutritional yeast is a go-to cheese substitute for vegans. It comes in flake form (or powder, less commonly used) and, when added to sauces, helps to imitate a cheesy flavor. It’s also yellow, which helps.
Nutritional yeast is also sometimes referred to as Brewer’s Yeast. Many vegans and non-vegans use nutritional yeast on its own over popcorn – great flavor!
